Twisted Fork Bistro

I went during Brunch time and I ordered:

Eggs Benny with toasted brioche, poached eggs, hollandaise and served
with sauteed spinach, rosti and baked beans and I chose smoked salmon filler but there are other choices below!
choose your filler ~ chorizo, ham, bacon, roasted chicken, smoked salmon, avocado or roasted tomato

It was only 11.00 and I must say the portion is really big and it tasted good! I thought that the only thing that spoiled the dish was the rosti because it was too hard and a bit burnt. Overall, for the price, portion and taste!! Everything was a good blend and I was very full! Rate: 9/10
I'll definitely come back her to try their dinner or lunch menus~!

Sushi Town (Coquitlam)

I've been to Sushi Town quite often and the place is pretty decent food and price wise.

Gomae (Spinach Salad) - The peanut sauce is rich and thick and its definitely one of the best that I've had. There was enough sauce for the amount of spinach they gave! I really like Gomae personally so this might lead to a good rating, but it is an excellent dish and satisfying to eat! Rate: 10/10
Mangodise Roll - I was very curious how this plate would taste. Yes, I did taste the mango but it was weird. I didn't like the combination. It tasted like California roll with a piece of mango and some mango sauce. This would not be something I would order again though. Rate: 5/10

Alaska Roll - I've tried many of these rolls but this one was different the inside was all avocado and there is a piece of salmon on top. I really like the sauce that went with it, it's hard to describe what it tastes like but it made this roll delicious. This is a plate I would continue to order!
Rate: 10/10

I've tried many of their other plates and their also very good such as: Awesome Roll, Double Dragon Roll, and Spicy Salmon Sashimi are all very good! More updates of pictures coming soon!

The One Restaurant

I think this place is quite hard to find and it's supposedly near "Blockbusters" but I think they closed down. Luckily, I spotted the blue banner of "Blockbusters" so I knew The One Restaurant was near there. However, they might change it in the future. This place is very clean and it was very well designed.

I ordered several dishes to try and here they are:

1) The One Egg roll with Sliced Beef $5.75

So usually when I eat sliced beef the outside is a pancake, but I thought it would be interesting to try an egg roll one instead! I thought the texture tasted like a pancake but you could taste the egg as well which was pretty interesting. The egg was soft and gave a juicy texture while taking a bite. I liked it actually and I thought it wasn't too salty or anything also it felt less oily as well! Rate: 9/10

2) Braised Beef Flank Noodle $7.50 and Braised Beef Tendon Noodle $7.95
I'll talk about these two at the same time because they had the same noodles and soup base. One bowl of noodles just had beef flank and the other one had beef tendon. It's a good thing when your sharing with other people because they give more of that item!
Braised Beef Flank Noodle
Braised Beef Tendon Noodle

Alright so you can basically choose Regular soup based or Spicy soup based and I ordered Spicy. To be honest with you, I can't take a bit of spicy but I heard previously from my aunt that the Regular soup base didn't taste good and the spicy one wasn't spicy. So, I gave it a try and it was actually not spicy at all. The soup base tasted more sweet and sour at the same time. I think it went well with the noodles, which were white and thick. The noodle was pretty good and chewy. Too view the texture go to Plate 4, they used the same noodles. The tendon was very smooth and unlike many places they didn't serve it in big chunks therefore it made it easier to eat. The tendon was very smooth and it felt very soft in my mouth. I would prefer it a bit harder because I like the chewy feeling from eating beef tendons. Overall, I would say it's not a super amazing plate or super bad plate. I think its quite presentable and the amount is decent, pretty average. I know my aunt really liked it compared to me so I'll assume that everyone's preference is a bit different. Rate: 8/10

3) Taiwanese Style Fried Rice Noodle $8.50
This plate was a bit on the watery side and it didn't seem like they put a lot of effort in making it. The mushroom tasted a bit funny but the noodles were not bad. I would say they need to work on the taste a bit more. Usually when I eat this at other restaurants, there would be a very nice smell when it was served, but this one didn't. Rate: 6.5/10

4) Dry Noodle with Ground Pork Sauce $6.25
I had high expectations for this plate because it sounded good but it was actually very bad... It wasn't finished because the sauce was very weird and it didn't go well with the noodles. Don't order this plate even though it looks really nice and tasty. Rate: 3/10

WOK BOX [fresh asian kitchen]

These are the three plates I ordered, two which was under stir fry and one under appetizers!

SINGAPORE CASHEW (SPICY)

A spicy favourite with fresh veggies, cashew sauce, cilantro and crushed cashews. Eat with hokkien noodles or rice.

JUNGLE CURRY (SPICY)

This Thai sensation comes with veggies, cilantro, pineapple chunks in a light coconut curry base. Enjoy it with hokkien noodles or rice.

SAMOSAS

4 handmade samosas filled with potatoes, peas, carrots and authentic Indian spices.

So, here are the pictures of the two stir fry noodles I ordered. Very disappointing I must say because they look exactly the same and I can't remember which one was Singapore cashew or Jungle curry because they taste very similar. The sauce was similar just a little different one was more sour than the other. They used almost the same material that it felt like I ordered two completely same plates. It was so hard to finish the plate because the sauce was very weird, very sweet and sour at the same time which was not to my liking. Everyone that ate with me here disliked these plates too! Rating for both plates: 1/10

The samosas were the best out of all the plates but for the price I would consider it being too small and there was not much stuffing inside. I am sure I could get 2x more samosas which taste better with that price!
Rate: 6/10

I am unsure if it was just the WOK BOK I went to which tasted bad or if all the WOK BOK restaurants make their food like this but I definitely won't be returning..

Moon Cake at Maxims

Hey Everyone! Happy Moon Cake Festival~
I'd like to talk about the moon cake I ate because it was deeeeee-licious!

Lotus Seed Paste (White) Moon Cake w/ 2 Yolks
The lotus paste was very smooth and chewy, I loved the texture of it. The yolk wasn't too salty and went well with the paste!
I heard that Maxim's sell the best moon cake this year so everyone should celebrate!!!

Go out there and get some moon cakes =] I'd rate this moon cake 9.5/10!
